A dozen branches and agencies of the Chinese central government have launched a cohesive effort to protect intellectual property (IP) of overseas companies and organizations. This campaign is being participated by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), the Ministry of Public Security (SPB), the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), the General Administration of Customs (GAC), the State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC), the Supreme Court and the Supreme Procuratorate, and other government agencies.
As part of the campaign, the Chinese central government will pull significant effort and resources together between now and end of 2017 to specially take care of IP violations across patent, trademark, trade secret, online property rights. Within the cohesive effort, each government agency has a unique specialty and area to be putting effort in. The SAIC is in charge of trademark infringement; the SIPO takes a leading role in patent protection; and the GAC focuses on IP violations in the trading process. This campaign reflects China’s effort to attract advanced technology, products and services from overseas.
