According to the 2016 China CT Medical Equipment Market Research Reportpublished by the Chinese Association of Medical Equipment in May 2017, the CT market ownership (the number of the registered or in-use item at a time point in a certain location) has exceeded 20,000, increased by 10% comparing to 19,592 at end of 2015. The double-digit growth sustained for 5 years between 2012 and 2016, with CAGR of 10.2%.
Annual sales of CT equipment grew steadily from 2,074 to 2,575 from 2012 to 2016, with a 5% CAGR. Sales declined in 2015 due to limitation by the 12.5 Plan but increased 17% in 2016 mostly led by domestic brands.
Among the 12,074 units of CT equipment in commission, 34% are made by GE, 28% by Siemens and 14% by Philips. In recent years, domestic manufacturers such as Dongruan, Lianying and Anke also showed significant growth.
Records of early 2016 showed that 59% of the equipment were purchased during 2010-2015, 28% purchased during 2005-2010. Noticeably, a total of 1,500 unitof CT equipments in China or 13% of the market, were purchased prior to 2005 and have been in use for over 10 years. These are the targets for replacement in the near future.
